Spain with picky eaters
Can anyone suggest some fun restaurants we can visit in Barcelona and Costa Brava for our family. Our kids are not the most adventurous eaters. Not too expensive- but not budget choices either! We are staying 5 nights in Barcelona and 5 at castel d'emporda in bisbal. thanks!
How old are your kids? The really little ones may be more difficult (especially when they're still in the 'Happy Face on a Plate' stage in life) but the older kids are at least more logical.
Pintxos and tapas probably go well with any kids; even more if they get to choose the item themselves. My son was 11yo last year when I took him to Barcelona (Parigi will remember this). At first, he was hesitant at Euskal Etxea (Basque pintxos near the Picasso museum). When he figured out how it worked and how friendly the attendants were, he dove in -- headfirst! I didn't see much of him after that, but I DO know he went wild on the Basque sausage, chistorra. Cerveceria Catalana and Ciutat Comtal in L'Eixample are also popular with families and these kinds of places stay open for longer hours.
Any food allergies or foods that you don't eat for religious reasons?
Instead of just giving you names of restaurants, perhaps you could tell us where you are sightseeing and we can try and suggest places nearby.
Of course, you MUST go to the Boqueria for fruit juices, samples of jamon, cheese and maybe some cooked food at the 'bars'.
I am likewise waiting for more info.
In general, kids love tapas; they are small, nearly bite-size and are very attractively colorful, and as SnackHappy aptly described, are not very challenging. They are the drolest fairy tale food.
And I salute you, Nina, for saying picky while most posters would rather die than show such honesty. Usually they say they or their gf or bf or children are a vegetarian but eat beef and chicken etc.
