We want to take my brother-in-law out to dinner for his 70th brirthday. He and his wife like American food or steak houses. My wife and I don't live in the area so we need your help.

i also recommend PG Steakhouse. Great steak, terrific homefried potatoes

I also like Pace's. The Hauppauge location could be difficult to get into on a Friday or Saturday night without a reservation. I suggest making the reservation WELL in advance.

PG Steakhouse on Jericho Tpke in Huntington, just 5 or so minutes west of Commack.
There's also Jackson's in Commack, though very informal.

I second PG's. Pace's is good but too over the top for me. PG is not Peter Luger's but very similar menu. I love their wedge salad with blue cheese.

I second the suggestion of Pace's. If they like steak this is the place to go. http://www.pacessteakhouse.com/ The Hauppage location is closest to Commack (about 10 minutes away).

Pace's Steak House in Hauppauge (next to Commack) is very well reviewed for years now.
