ISO: Mexican chocolate
I am wanting to have a taco party and found a recipe for Mexican Pot de Creme at Saveur.com. Does anyone know of a good Mexican grocery where I can find mexican chocolate?
Thanks!

If you're in the vicinity of Kennett Square in Chester County, there are a few. There's a place in Toughkenamon called El Cunado that's on the left side of the street just past the Brown Derby. If you're interested I can get you better directions.

I'm sure ANY good Mexican grocer in South Philly will have it. Otherwise, just order via Amazon. It's not that hard to find.

(seriously, my college roommate from Brooklyn hooked me on the stuff 20 years ago...I always keep it on hand today and never have a hard time finding it.)

If making a pot de creme is this really any different/better than buying some good South American dark chocolate at Whole Foods or Trader Joe's and putting the seasonings in yourself?

Mexican chocolate has a grainier texture, I'm not sure if that would persist after being melted for pot de creme though.

Not sure where you are. I was going to suggest that you hit Assi. They are a decent source for Mexican ingredients and have the Abuelita chocolate by Nestle but then I saw it today at The Grand Fromage in Skippack. I have had incredible luck finding items that I use to mail order or get downtown in that shop. They have Esprit du Sel which can be very hard to find and is my favorite finishing salt by far along with other great finds. I didn't buy the chocolate because I was picking up a tray for an event but they had several high quality options.
