Shake Shack May 2011 Flavors - Any Must-Haves?

tpigeon Apr 30, 2011 09:56 PM

Monday: Strawberry Blonde

Tuesday: Cinnamon Almond Dulce

Wednesday: Fromage Blanc Raspberry Swirl

Thursday: Thin Mint

Friday: Mud Pie

Saturday: Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel

Sunday: Red Velvet

This month looks a lot weaker than April unfortunately.

P.S. It is really weak they brought back Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel so fast (march flavor). It was nothing special.

Happened to be on the website. They were really quick posting it this time.

I'm disappointed that you just "happened to be" on the website. Admit it: you were deliberately hitting "refresh" a minute after midnight.

        Thanks for the list.

I didn't happen to be on the website. It happened to be on the website :) sometimes they take longer to post the new flavors.

You're right that the flavors don't look as good as April. Glad I bought 2 pints of the P&B last night. Should sustain me for a little bit. Thanks for posting the new flavors.

That strategy never works for me. I get icecream, it is gone within hours. Can't help it.

I'm happy the flavors are not as intriguing as the ones in April. I'm only in Manhattan for about 4 days in May.

Red Velvet was good. Has cake in it. I could not make out the frosting though if they had any. Tasted like vanilla custard with chunks of cake in it.

This seems to be a pattern -- the tease flavor. Strawberry-pistachio had no discernible pistachio, pancakes & bacon no discernible pancakes, carrot cake (you said) no discernible cake.

does it taste much like red velvet, though? i made sure i got pancakes & bacon yesterday, but today is a new day, and i need another fix. while the pancake flavor was lacking, there was good bacon flavor/pieces so that it wasn't tasting of just vanilla custard. is this the case for red velvet as well?

my other option is to head to momofuku milk bar (EV), although the flavors on the webpage are inaccurate as they actually only had the crack pie and cereal milk flavors on friday. so i had crack pie (yummy), but i wanted to try the grasshopper pie soft serve as well.

FYI, I believe Milk Bar is changing their soft serve flavors this week.

They are! It's raspberry lemonade in the East Village location & blackberry-kaffir lime in Midtown.

                  Here's their tweet:

they also introduced a new cake truffle - strawberry lemon, i believe. i had one pack and can see it filling the void left behind by the missing Apple Pie.

Red velvet cake did taste like red velvet. I did enjoy this flavor and will have it again, but it was not as good as say, pumpkin pie oh my which was pumpkin pie and vanilla custard.

"does it taste much like red velvet, though?"

I haven't had this months batch, but in the past it had a heavy red velvet taste, much like if they crumbled a food coloring heavy slice of cake into their standard custard. If you like red velvet cake, this is one of their more successful and accurate tasting flavors.

I'm sort of happy that this month's flavors are nothing special since I'm trying to diet (also I'll be on vacation).

The chocolate-peanut butter-pretzel from midtown location was very good. Tons of pretzels, lots of pb, very creamy.
