We hosted a group of 10 a couple of weeks ago. We were in town for our daughter's wedding and wanted to have a welcome for the early arrivals. Rambla fit the bill. It was casual enough that we could chat and enjoy the cocktails & tapas. We ordered the oysters, patatas con cafe, popcorn (for our popcorn fan guest), almonds, and several rounds of flatbreads - wild mushroom and burrata. They were out of the fig and bluecheese, my favorite. The patatas were the only thing that we wouldn't order again, just blah. The group liked the flatbreads.
Our server was not having a good night but the manager stepped in and saved the night. Overall the experience met my expectations. The food was good, it was a change of pace from New Orleans food, and the space isn't usually crowded so we weren't rushed.-----

re: ddavis
Unfortunately, the last two times I've been to Rambla were a bit of a letdown. The last time especially. The food was fine, nothing terrible, nothing excellent, from good to meh. Butmy problem was more the service. Last visit, we brought in (pre-arranged with the restaurant) a large party of 18 or so. (wedding stuff) Considering how much we ate and drank, and how empty the rest of the restaurant was, we were all pretty unimpressed with the service. Long spans of no service, and a rather blase, dismissive, verging on unfriendly, attitude. Now, we tend to be a very self-entertained bunch, and I definitely do not consider myself high-maintenance when dining at all, generally preferring to be left alone, but honestly our treatment bordered on rude, and we really were their paycheck for the evening. Haven't been back since. Hopefully they have addressed this, because I really enjoyed them when they first opened, and was disappointed to cross them off the list. But there is just too many places to dine at, and when you are ready to rack up a bill, you prefer to feel at least a little appreciated.
