Looking for suggestions for really good Chinese take-out...not just the average kitchen. Doesn't necessary need to be directly in the SL area, give or take a mile or two......all suggestions appreciated.

Coming from Edison which has an abundance of good Chinese food, the hardest thing about working at the shore was the complete and utter lack of remotely passable Chinese food from Long Branch through Pt Pleasant ... that being said, Szechuan Tokyo in Sea Girt was the closest thing to decent I could find.

Might be worth a shot if your current selection is lacking and you haven't tried it. While it is far from really good, from what I remember it is much better than a lot of the other places I've tried. And yes, Shanghai Bun in Matawan. Coconut Forest in Hazlet is good too but probably too far for you.

I held my breath as I opened this thread hoping beyond hope that someone had an answer for you. But, alas, it is not so. There is really nothing in the area.

Our favorite, not quite over the bridge, is Shanghai Bun on route 34 in Matawan. Worth the ride.

If you find one, please let me know. I've been looking for decades and have begrudgingly concluded that eating good Chinese requires crossing the Driscoll. In fact, most of what is available around here actually borders upon offensive.

But you guys have Hoffmans Ice Cream, so you're pretty fortunate. :-)
