re: opinionatedchef
sorry if i misunderstood your query. it's to late to edit my previous post, however, if that is your criteria, lydia shire has none of her own money in either scampo or towne. she is the executive chef, not an owner.
maura fitzpatrick works for sortun -- she is not an owner.
you did also ask for female owners of bars, which i provided as well.

re: hotoynoodle
hotoy, that's interesting about towne; i really thought she was at least one of the owners. the way that i remember it being covered in the press, it was shire and white joining forces in a dream venture.
as to maura and sofra,i believe she AND ana are co-owners; that's how i read it when it opened, that it was a joint venture (unlike oleana). But not so?

re: opinionatedchef
lydia and jasper indeed have long dreamed of having a joint venture. they now have that, but with investors' money. this is not an uncommon start-up for restaurants, and as the place earns back money, various folks get various percentages of the pie.
like i have said elsewhere: towne was a $12 million build-out.

re: opinionatedchef
You mentioned Tiny Trapeze Confections in your food gifts thread as well - they were bought out by Whole Foods in 2005 and discontinued a couple of years ago. See this post in an old thread, presumably from Susan Lombardi herself:
