Zayeqa Hoof Fest 2011 Farmington Hills MI

JP and I are taking on the challenge of organizng a sufficient number of people to get Zayeqa to have a specials night of curried goat and beef hoof offered on their menu.

Initial responses via CH Great Lakes are welcome. I suspect it will be a weeknight because of the vacation season and summer holidays but I will contact the resto on Saturday to see how many they need to confirm.

If you don't hear from me again on this mattter look on the google detroit chow alternative site.

  1. I would need it to be after 8:15 or so...if it is M-F (Family/Work Schedule is hard). My wife works in Ann Arbor and I got some youngin's.

I think we should not just offer hoof....but also ask if they have Offal dishes to do to.

You can wear it on your head the Bao fest. And so what if we have two shifts. (irony for an old word JP will have to look up) We won't change the handshake though.

I will take the lead on offal at Zayeqa with hopes that another CH - Detroit disciple will take over shortly. TBD at DanDan.

    2. I stopped at Zayeqa today and spoke to the owner (Nausheen) about some hoof dishes. She owns a grocery store and cycles them in every week or so.

Asking about a tasting menu she proposed: Beef hoof and goat hoof (Paya) and Beef and goat shank in a different preparation (Nichari) and a very thinly sliced beef round on kebab skewers unique to her Indian region.

The tentative date is Saturday 21 May and I only have to confirm people and time 8-9 days in advance. None of their food is wildly expensive so ???? Credit cards are iffy on my observation. And no alcohol. (sorry JP).

Did the hoof fest ever happen? I could supply 2-3 more adventurous eaters for a future event. I currently have 3 sheep heads in my freezer, if that's any indication of my level of adventurousness. Last winter, I bought a whole lamb and the butcher threw in a couple of extra heads so we could have enough brains to make brains masala. It was very tasty. I hope the heads have held up okay after all these months in the deep freeze.
