Mofongo in DFW?

I just came back from a trip to South Florida. I went to Benny's and had their Mofongo, I am still dreaming about it.

Anybody know of a place in DFW that serves it?

  1. Mi Tierra in Arlington and Isla Mia in Carrollton both had Purto Rican chefs that made excellent mofongo. Unfortunately both closed recently. I don't know of any other place that serves it. Caribbean Cafe is a Cuban place that may be able to make it for you.

    1. Mi Tierra at Beltline and Josey in Carrollton had it on their menu Monday night. I heard the table next to us ask about it and was told they would have it Saturday, 5/7.

I just returned from a cruise in which one of the stops was San Juan and had my first taste of Puerto rican cuisine (lil place called Cafe Puerto Rico in the Plaza Colón near the port) including Mofongos, and I'm hooked! I am in search of a restaurant that serves such cuisine in DFW and haven't had much luck...I searched for Mi Tierra in Carrollton and found nothing...the one in Arlington as mentioned is closed...are you sure that's what it's called in Carrollton? Thank you...

I think both places are gone. I have looked as well to no avail. I am guessing my quest will have to wait for another trip to Miami.

There is a new place on Beltline in Irving that is opening soon. It is called Adobo Puerto Rican Cafe.

They're at 3013 N. Beltline Road in Irving. They must be very new. Can't find much about them except for a page on Facebook.
The page has a few pictures and is written mostly in Spanish.

Oops. In case you didn't already find this out, the place is called Casa Vieja. It's at Beltline and Josey. As her for the specials or about your Mofongo.

            Sorry 'bout that. :)

              Isn't Casa Vieja Colombian?

                Yes and muy deliciouso.
I thought it was an unusual too, but they had a lot of other plantain dishes on the menu, so..
plus, I was too busy stuffing my face full of blood sausage. omg

Hmm that's very interesting. I will have to try it next week.

        2. Many of those restaurantes mentioned are now closed, and they weren't really that great. But Adobo Puerto Rican Cafe is now open in Irving. They have a great mofongo with the real Puerto Rico taste. But not only the mofongo, chuletas, pernil, arroz con gandules, alcapurrias, pasteles, etc. Even real Puerto Rican pan sobao. They bring the bread from PR, Los Cidrines. Is a small place, somewhat crowded, you may need to wait, but worth waiting for great real testing PR food.
