Best oceanfront restaurant in SoCal - any suggestions?

Hi Fellow Foodies,

Summer is coming up and I'm looking for an awesome beachfront restaurant that serves great food —preferably a place where you can walk from the sand to the restaurant to eat or any place cliff-side (e.g. Geoffrey's Malibu) or close to the ocean would be fantastic.

Some places I've ate where the restaurant is right on the sand is:
1. The Beachcomber Cafe (Newport Coast, CA)
2. Paradise Cove Beach Cafe (Malibu, CA)
3. Las Brisas (Laguna Beach, CA)

Please let me know if you have any more suggestions. I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

  1. Chart House Malibu? Better food than Paradise Cove but, Paradise Cove beats all on beach locales!

    Chart House Restaurant - Malibu
18412 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265

    1. Duke's Malibu and Back on the Beach in Santa Monica both on the sand.

      Duke's Malibu
21150 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265

      Back on the Beach
445 Palisades Beach Rd, Santa Monica, CA

Good choice - Lobster has great views and good food.

            The Lobster
1602 Ocean Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90401

        2. The Lobster. One Pico at Shutters. Catch at Del Mar.

The Hungry Cat - road level, but you can see the ocean across PCH, and a one minute walk gets you thru the tunnel and onto the sand.

          The Hungry Cat
1535 Vine St, Los Angeles, CA 90028

          One Pico
1 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405

          Del Mar Cafe
712 S Del Mar Ave, San Gabriel, CA 91776

Linking to the right Hungry Cat -- either that or there's a tunnel from Sunset and Vine to the ocean ...

            The Hungry Cat
100 W Channel Rd, Santa Monica, CA 90402

I didn't do the link - it's done automatically. Kudos for the correction.

According to the map there's an oceanfront restaurant in San Gabriel. Neat trick.

Yeah, it's in the hotel Casa Del Mar, which is on the beach in Santa Monica. Same with One Pico, but that's in the Shutters hotel right next door.

                Casa Del Mar
1910 Ocean Way, Santa Monica, CA 90405

                One Pico
1 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90405

            3. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check them out.

                1. The Sunset restaurant on Zuma beach had decent food.

                  1. The Beachcomber and Las Brisas both have amazing views, but the food is nothing to write home about at either place.

                    1. Nothing better than taking the Catalina Express over to Avalon and snorkeling all day and then having drinks at dinner at Armstrong's, Descano's Cove or El Galleon..food is decent but its more about just being in Catalina.

                      2. We always go to Duke's. The food is always good and the staff is helpful and friendly. The view is spectacular because you are right on the beach.
