re: waziboy
i was interested in trying newtown with new chef and also saw they were advertising lunch specials for 20$ but leslie chesterman gave quite a negative review in weekend gazette, still might give it a try though for the lunch menu or maybe for brunch that starts May 8, as not much downtown in way on interesting brunches and the restaurant itself is attractive.

re: wilmagrace
Thanks for the heads up! What an experience Lesley had...I suppose as she mentions though, some of the negativity came from the fact that Juneau was not cooking that evening. However, the menu may be lacking in inspiration.
I might take your lead and try out their brunch. Just a hop and a skip away from my place, too!

Lately I've been crossing more off of my list than adding - it's been a good few months for restaurant visits...Still to try are Les 400 Coups, Jun-i, A Table, Laloux (haven't been since the latest chef took over the kitchen), F Bar, Le Locale, and Maria Bonita.

You mean places I tried and YOU must try, or places I must try and have yet to?
If I'm doing both I'd say:
Tried already (in no particular order):
$$ Bistro Justine (great lunch specials)
$ Tint (Vietnamese and Thai cheap, good, and just discovered it... see my post)
$ Bofinger (It's a chain I know but rib to price ratio is good!)
$ Pantere Verte (2 loc now... best falafel ever, unlike anything else you've tried)
$$ Nostos (FRESH FRESH Greek on L'Acadie near Marche Centrale)
$ Phayathai (Love the tofu panang.. if you never had it HAVE IT at $10 you'll be hooked!)Never tried but want to:
$$$$ Jun-I

re: Dreverends
Note that the original Bistro Justine on Van Horne is kaput. (sad, I know!)
They do have 2 similar locations (Justine Bistro à Vin and La Terrasse Justine) but these are slightly different concepts & price points.

Places I've never been to in the greater Montreal area?
Poulet à la Campagnard (Haggisboy was raving about it as a chicken to watch television with)
Have done all the others on your list save one: after the 5 Guys in Washington-Dulles, I don't need to repeat here (it wasn't bad, but it's just a burger).
