General Tao Chicken - So much choice but where to find the best??

With dozens of restaurants serving GTC, where can I find a proper one? Between friends and hounders, I've never heard any raving reviews but with all the choice available surely some standouts must exist!!

Thanks for any helpful tips.

Tong Por and Fu Kam Wah make good versions with a favorable chicken to batter ratio and not overly sweet sauce.

Chalet Thai in Ste Anne de Bellevue makes the best GT imo, crispy and not overly sweet, the batter is not thick. Still, I feel like I ate too much candy when I have it, combined with other dishes.
I keep vowing I will not have any more thai food, but once in a while, I crave it.

      thanks for the comments.

i don't have any real criteria as most of the GTC I've had has been deathly overcooked and sweetened. I'm not must of a fan but was curious to know whether anything outstanding existed in the city. btw, what are Kams?

Kam Shing makes a great Tao.

This is a dish that I never order but someone else dining with me might.

I have had it served to me at Shing Do (on Decarie in St-Laurent) Tong Por VSL (which is of course in Cartierville), Maison VIP in Chinatown and the various Kams. They all seem to blend together experience-wise based on the few pieces i've eaten.

EDIT: what criteria are important for you?
