Help- Need to find a very special place for lunch near Amherst MA - May 14
My daughter is graduating and would like for us to go out for lunch with a few of her friends-
She likes well prepared food in a comfortable location. Right now we are thinking Burdick's in Walpole NH- Please suggest soemthing closer

Gypsy Apple is a very special place but it only serves dinner, and will soon start a Sunday brunch. Cafe Martin in Shelburne Falls would have been my other recommendation for that area, but I think they have stopped serving lunch and now open at 4PM for dinner only.
I would recommend Chez Albert in Amherst. Many restaurants around here have weird hours. They open for lunch, but close at two and then if they serve dinner, they reopen at 5. If you want to consider them, you should make a reservation as early as possible. Most of the other interesting places in AMherst and Northampton are only open for dinner.
I second the rec for Hope & Olive in Greenfield.
Good luck!

Green Street Cafe in Northampton has wonderful lunch and I believe you can make reservations. Graduation at Smith is Sunday so it will be busy but worth it if you can reserve.

parking in amherst or northampton will be problematic right around then, that's for sure. on a curious note, burdick's used to have a store right next to the green street cafe, although this location did not serve bistro fare. hope & olive would be a nice choice, although more special, perhaps, would be the gypsy apple in shelburne falls. i have never been for the afternoon menu they serve, but the food there is might fine, and the atmosphere is casual, especially if the outdoor seating is available. but i think the food & vibe would be good at any of these. but i also suggest making a reservation as soon as you possibly can

Unfortunately, you don't want to try to be too close. Most of the valley is a mob scene during any of the commencement weekends. Perhaps you might want to try Hope and Olive in Greenfield? They take reservations for parties of six or more, and on that weekend, you don't really want to take any chances. Also, very good, interesting food and a pleasant atmosphere.
