  1. You have a great list here. How long are you here that you're able to eat all this in one trip?? I love your choices here, and you definitely seem like you're hitting a lot of great places.

    My favorite dishes:
Artichoke - I like all their pizzas, but my favorite is the crab one
Motorino - They have seasonal pies that change all the time and are interesting - my standard is the brussels sprout pizza
Russ & Daughters - Again, all their sandwiches are fantastic. I personally love the pastrami Russ and I have them add the wasabi-infused roe
Crif Dog - I believe you're talking about the "Chang Dog" at PDT, which is my personal favorite
Doughnut Plant - I love their pb&j doughnut, and they had some really good blackberry one last time I was there

    A few suggestions:
Blue Smoke - I'm not crazy about this place, actually. I don't think they're doing anything special. If you want a special bbq experience I might try Fette Sau, although it's more casual, and it's in brooklyn.
Joe's Shanghai - which location are you going to? I find that their quality varies a lot. Unless you're going to the Joe's in Flushing, I actually prefer Shanghai Cafe for dumplings compared to all of the Joe's locations in manhattan.

Since I noticed you have 2 falafels on your list and you are a fan, I would also suggest Azuri, which I love.

    Have a great trip!

Motorino - 2nd the brussels sprouts pizza

kiki2U, regarding Alfanoose - in addition to the falafel, try the hummus, baba ganouge , foul mudammas, mojadara, and baklava.

Great NY Noodletown - salt baked squid

Russ & Daughters - gaspe nova

Good Enough to Eat - I really enjoyed the meatloaf, though I haven't been there in a few years

Besides City Bakery & Doughnut Plant, are you not planning to explore the universe of sweets in NYC?

    2. You've got a great list.

Artichoke Basille’s - Margherita slice--yes! I'd avoid the WV location and stick to the 14th St branch. The one pizza I had in the WV was dried out and horrible
      Russ & Daughters - I love the sable--so smooth.
Don't miss Il Laboratorio del Gelato while you're in that area.
Xi’an Famous Foods -I love the cumin lamb noodles, and the tiger vegetables salad

      1. You are obviously very serious about this and have done extra homework. Sit back and enjoy!

        1. Blue Smoke BBQ
I also like the warm BBQ potato chips with dip. Pulled pork is good too if you like nontraditional slaw (theirs is sesame and Asian-influenced). Save room for dessert!

          Artichoke
          The square slice.

          Motorino
Pies vary between the Williamsburg and EV locations. The proscuitto is only at the Brooklyn one these days IIRC. Our 2 standbys are the spicy soppressata and the brussels sprouts, but we also like the crimini mushroom one. Ask what the specials are. They've had a great ramp pizza lately. Get the a glass of the Gragnano wine as well.

          Russ & Daughters
Gaspe nova, with cream cheese, capers, red onion, tomato, on a bagel (untoasted). Ask for a taste of the smoked salmon before you commit.

Also some people LOVE the Super Heebster sandwich: Whitefish & Baked Salmon Salad with Horseradish Dill Cream Cheese and Wasabi Flying Fish Roe on a Bagel.

          Crif Dogs
Are you talking about Crif Dogs or PDT the bar? The menus are different. At Crif Dogs proper I love the John-John Deragon dog while my husband loves the Spicy Redneck. At PDT, the Sue Torres tots are a must get. I believe you can get any Crif Dogs dog at PDT but not vice versa.
          PDT's food menu:
          http://images.nymag.com/images/2/dail...

          Doughnut Plant
Tres Leches cake doughnut, Brooklyn blackout cake doughnut, Strawberry (this is seasonal) cake doughnut, or the salted peanut cake doughnut which is at the Chelsea location only.

          Xi’an Famous Foods
Don't miss the hand-pulled noodles with cumin lamb.

          Great NY Noodle Town
Flowering chives with beef, roast pork, roast baby pig, or roast duck. Make sure you specify if you want the roast baby pig or the regular pork.

          Café Katja
          Don't miss their warm pretzels.

          Joe’s Shanghai
Are you tied to Joe's? Why not try Shanghai Cafe or somewhere else?

          Clinton Street Baking
Biscuit sandwich with bacon, blueberry pancakes, avoid the waffle, grab a muffin or something on your way out the door.

          City Bakery
French toast, really good bacon, but only on the weekends. They usually always have their famous pretzel croissant, though. I also like the baker's muffin made out of "leftovers."

          Shopsins
Mac and cheese pancakes with jam, sliders, burger. Actually you might be better off with a pancake sampler plate. Don't forget you can get 1/2 orders of pancakes.

I agree about Shanghai Cafe. I like the dumplings AND the atmosphere better.

Also, I'd recommend Marrakesh over Alfanoose. In my experience, Marrakesh is more flavorful and is a better value.

          2. Nice list.

For falafel, I prefer Azuri and Taim to Mamouns and Alfanoose.
Great NY Noodletown -- anything salt-baked; singapore CHOW fun (not mei fun)

ETA: Serious Eats did a taste test on falafel that you may be interested in. Oh -- Azuri and Taim came in 2nd and 1st!
