Veg-friendly in the financial district?
DC Hound is going to be staying at the Doubletree on Water St downtown. Interested in veg-friendly (eggs ok, no fish) options nearby for dinner, all price ranges are ok as long as the food is yummy. I did a search for 'vegetarian' on other Boston threads but most of those options seemed a bit of a trip. Anything within say a half hour walk of where I'm staying? I'll get in a cab or on the T if it is really worth it.
If the hotel is where I think it is based on Google Maps (821 Washington Street?) then it's more in the Theater District/Chinatown than the Financial District, though the FD is not far away by foot.
There are lots of options in Chinatown. I like Taiwan Cafe for homestyle braised eggplant with basil (not sure what it's braised in and whether it's actually vegetarian) and sauteed pea shoots (I also love their pork dumplings, but that's not very helpful to you).
If you cross the Pike or take the Silver Line into the South End, there are lots of options on Washington Street. Myers + Chang has a lot of vegetarian options.
I can't think of anything particular on point close by that is strictly veg, unless you want to consider Chinatown spots, the Q (mongolian hot pot), or veg options at O Ya.
Oleana may be worth a cab ride
True Bistro in Teele Sq. (Somerville) is fancy vegan and, in my opinion, worth the ride on the T to Davis and the additional 10 minute walk. Get the phyllo purse thing - was outstanding.
