BEST SWEET POTATO FRIES IN L.A.

Thought this needed it's own thread - the French Fry thread should be dedicated to regular tubers.

Anyway, my vote (over Father's Office - which are great, and 17street Cafe on Montana (yeah, they're good there too) - is for Josie's.

    2. Popular vote goes to F.O.,

BUT the ones at Torafuku, with truffle oil, is my fave.

I've had it once, but I thought the truffle oil actually got in the way, instead of adding something rich and flavorful.

That was my concern when I first ordered it, but the order I received had just a hint of truffle, which didn't "fight" the sweet potatoes.

Maybe you got a batch where they drizzled it in truffle oil (usually not a bad thing!)...

      2. Mastro's in Beverly Hills.

        1. Another vote for FO. The ones I had the other night at A Frame were also pretty damn good.

          1. There are certain kinds of shochu (Japanese distilled spirits) made from sweet potatoes, and I wonder how well some of these sweet potato fries would go with a good "imo-shochu" made from sweet potatoes.

            1. Father's Office in my experience so far. In fact it's probably the best I've had period not only in the sweet potato category.

              1. I like St. Felix in weho.

                1. Hudson House in Redondo Beach.

                  1. FYI....the Ralph's brand frozen sweet potato fries are surprisingly good. Not greasy and full of sweet potato flavor, crinkle cut. They are made by McCain's in Canada. I like to dip them in a little Vermont Maple syrup with some red pepper flakes added.

Smashburger's are good too, if we ever get a Smashburger around here.

The Habit! cheap, fast and very delish. Goes great with a chicken lettuce wrap. They're everywhere now.

                    2. Not for the sweet-potato purist, but the sweet potato fries with maple-chipotle glaze and crushed almonds at Tony's Darts Away in Burbank are pretty addictive. With a good California craft beer on tap (the only kind of beer they've got!), of course.

(The leftovers re-heat surprisingly well, too.)

                        1. I note a lot of recommends for Father's Office, which I liked a lot, but preferred Josies.

Has anyone here actually tried them at both places? Is there any comparison? Or did you just go there, get them and love 'em?

I've tried the sweet potato fries at both Josie & FO.

FO is just a tad better.
