Solo lineup etiquette

I'll be in town on the weekend on a solo trip and want to hit a couple of places known for big lineups (Kens, Apizza Scholls etc).
Any issues with walking to the head of the line to see if they can squeeze a solo diner in or is it wait your turn like everyone else? I'm thinking bar seat or communal table spaces of course.

Kens, Apizza Scholls, and all the other line-up places I can think of (Pok Pok, Toro Bravo, Tasty and Sons) generally only have the line before opening; once they are open and have filled the first round of seating, they all take names on a list. Once you're on the list, of course, they'll take into account your party size when deciding who to seat next. In other words, wait your turn like everyone else, but if it turns out there's a lone seat available at the bar, you'll get squeezed in early.

(BTW, If you are OK with eating early, you can pretty much be assured of getting in on the first round of seating at any of these places by showing up 20 minutes before opening.)

You can jump ahead of the line to sit at the bar at Ken's, and a place is usually available. I think the same applies to Scholls, but I'm not sure. Just call them. Toro Bravo is also tough to gain ground as a single,

I've eaten solo at Toro Bravo and never had an issue - you do have to sign in with the hostess though if it's packed. If it's not busy - the hostess has always seated me promptly.

As a matter of etiquette I usually check in with the host/ess and ask if bar seating is first come first serve.
