lunch in SD or Coronado?
This is always the first place I start whenever I'm headed somewhere--you all never steer me wrong!
Doing an anniversary trip w/hubby next month. Got some good dinner ideas, but looking for either great lunch spots (sit down, nice atmosphere or patio or view--not "upscale" just interesting) OR markets where we could pick up some good stuff to picnic it somewhere.
My absolute favorite farmer's market in San Diego is the Little Italy one, on Saturdays from 9am to 130pm. GREAT place to find fresh picnic cheeses, fruits/vegetables, etc. There's even a food truck that goes there. From there, you can picnic at the park near the USS Midway on Harbor drive, in Seaport Village, or eat right in Little Italy- there's open tables on the sidewalk. Hope this helps!
Try the Hillcrest Farmers Market on Sunday from 9-1pm(?) or the Wednesday market at Ocean Beach. Both have good take away stands. Although it is a chain, the Il Fornaio in Coronado has a great view and we've always enjoyed our meals. Happy hour at Bali Hai for a Mai Tai before sunset and some appetizers would be fun. Best bay view IMO and the new chef has really improved the food experience. We liked the poke better than Roy's. Great grocery/market in -- Golden Triangle--Bristol Farms and Whole Foods in Hillcrest. Enjoy your stay!
