Help - I've read the boards, but want to be sure of a great reco. I want great food - but she likes more of a lively atmosphere than what I percieve the refined of a La Bernadin to be - any suggestions???

What's your price point for each person, before tax, tip, and wine/drinks?

Other than a lively atmosphere, any other requests? Neighborhood? Cuisine type -- French (classic), French (modern), Italian, etc?

$100 pp as a start, including a drink, but flexible for the right place. we have theatre tickets one night, so need to be able to eat and make the show, we both enjoy latin or meditterean flavors. Other night I'm more flexible on location, thanks

I just had a major birthday at Balthazar and loved it. Gramercy Tavern would be at the top of your price range if you're in the restaurant, but if the bar food is any indicator, that would be a great choice too.
