Need caterer for a Caribbean themed BBQ/Clambake Reception soon!

citygrrll Apr 27, 2011 08:15 AM

Hello all!

My future husband & I are getting married July 1st on Barbados and are planning on doing a low-key reception/party when we return for a small group of fam & friends (75 or less) at our home. I would love to do a Caribbean themed menu to celebrate our island wedding. Has anyone encountered fantastic caterers with resonable prices that could pull this off?

There used to be a place in Arlington called Something Savory, which was Caribbean and the chef owner used to work at Green Street Grill. I believe that they catered and would be perfect for your theme. If other hounds can track him down, I'd try him.

Although Something Savory no longer exists as a restaurant, the catering business lives on. They would be perfect for what you describe and get high marks from people I know who have used them.

I thought I saw that the catering business was still around. Thanks for confirming. East Coast Grill is also a fine choice that would be a tad more expensive and less Caribbean IMO.

My neighbors had several parties catered by Something Savory and the food was terrific. I believe that the prices are reasonable and I know the people are really nice because the restaurant, when it was open, was in our neighborhood so I was in there quite a bit.

East Coast Grill would do a fantastic job with all aspects. Their catering manager is a pleasure to deal with and I think the prices are reasonable compared to other Boston area catering.

I'm not given to absolute 'hands down' type statements on these boards, however IMO, you will hard pressed to find one caterer who will fit the bill better than ECG. Also, you get to go there for the tasting!

I can also recommend B&M out of Pawtucket RI based on personal experience. They do BBQ and clambakes and would be a bit less expensive than ECG if that is a primary concern. They have no trouble traveling to the Boston area and area also a pleasure to deal with.

For that Caribbean touch you want, ECG would really just nail it though.

My wife and I did a very similar event for our own wedding and ECG was everything we had hoped and expected them to be and then some. I couldn't possibly recommend them highly enough.

East Coast Grill. The restaurant specializes in Caribbean food and BBQ and the catering chefs are the restaurant chefs.
