Recommendation for a restaurant in Napa Valley

  • 6

Any recommendations for a dinner at a restaurant in Napa Valley to celebrate my Birthday with my wife next Friday. I have been to Bistro Jeanty, Mustard Grill and French Laundry

  1. Your preferences re flavors, price, atmosphere, location? Of the places you mentioned, which did you like or dislike? Will you be driving a long distance after dinner or staying locally?

Anywhere in Napa or the Valley would work. Price wise I prefer something closer to Jeanty or Mustard. Forgot to mention I've also been to Bouchon. I liked Jeanty better. Especially the Tartare

    2. Before anyone else says it: Redd
I personally also love Ad Hoc.
There are a lot of Napa threads recently... these threads also recommend Bottega, Etoile, Oenotri, and Terra (just to name a few)...
Do some research and see what sounds the best to you menu and price wise (however, don't take too long if you are going next Friday.. some of these places book up fast!).

REDD is very good. If you've never been to Bottega, you may want to consider them, we have had two excellent meals there. Terra in nearby St. Helena is also excellent! :)

      2. Not yet mentioned but worthy of consideration is Morimoto and Rotisserie & Wine, two of my favorites...

For a blow-out meal, consider Meadowood and book a table on the terrace to watch the sunset.

I'll join the chorus for Redd. More a minimalist design than faux Tuscan Bottega or faux French Jeanty with pristine food in an elegantly simple room. Weather permitting, the terrace outside in front of the fireplace is one of the most gracious venues in Napa Valley.

For me, Bottega is a bit theatrical in the Chiarello style while Terra is too quiet and too subdued
          for my taste.

For me, Redd is special for a special birthday occasion.
