Best "must go to" Restaurant in CT (but not fairfield county)

acervoni Apr 26, 2011 03:20 PM

Wandering what the absolute must go to restaurant is in Connecticut excluding fairfield county. Want to take my in-laws for a wonderful meal on Mother's Day but Fairfield is a little too far. They love the Max restaurants in Hartford area but I was thinking of someplace with a nice scnenic drive. Any thoughts?

The Copper Beech Inn, Ivoryton, CT. Very nice. You can even add a stop at Gillette Castle overlooking the CT river.

I second Copper Beech (Pip's) and also nominate Still River Cafe in Eastford.

J.Gilberts in Glastonbury is my favorite. The bone in rib eye is always perfect and the lump crab-cake app is ridiculously good. Great wine selection as well.
