Edit creating duplicate records in the Restaurant database
I'm not going to mark tese as duplicates because there is a problem in edit and these are the examples.
You know, the edit problem in posting with multiple lines being created still as not been fixed. Now there is a new edit problem that is creating duplicate records
There's just something about this particular restaurant record. I made two more edits and two more records were generated. It doesn't seem to be happening to other restaurant records.
As mentioned, this is the record that is good
Go ahead and delete the others found in the search list in tbe first link in this post. I don't want to use the duplicate record thing as whatever problem I'm having might either cause more duplicates or possibly wipe out the good information
The odd thing is the good record gets updated, but the new records don't have that info.
I'm done with the info for this restaurant and I doubt anyone else in the world is ever going to add information for Hotel y Restaurante Don Pedro in San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala
Today I created a record for Hotel y Restaurante Don Pedro in San Lucas. I did a few edits as I found information.
Then I wanted to add a record for Hotel Toliman, also in San Lucas.
To add the record, I did a search on "Hotel Toliman" "San Lucas Toliman" Guatemala.
That is when I got the list of all the records for Don Pedro.
All I've been doing is normal editing. Not a thing seemed different until I hit search.
One clue might be that I was having problems finding the correct address and changed tat a number of times. So maybe address changes are creating the duplicates?
I also made a change to the phone number, but that was only once.
Ir doesn't seem to be the address change. I created tis test record (which can be deleted) and changed the address.
No duplicates. I thought maybe the accented address was a problem, so I editied the other restaurant record. No duplicates.
Other than the address change, there's really nothing unusual in my edits. I can't see a reason for it happening.
The only odd thing is that in my test record, there doesn't seem to be an address edit anymore. The addres has "address change" as the address which is not valid ... no edit though.
I just noticed that accent marks are being autimatically generated in addresses.
I entered the city of San Lucas Toliman and it was changed to San Lucas Tolimán
I am guessing this is coming from the map interface and there is not much that can be done as far as what is returned.
I mention it because I hope some consideration would be given to Chow search which, the last time I tried it, doesn't handle this correctly. For example, if someone searches on cafe, search will exclude those entries that have an accented "e".
