Chili Seasoning
I would like to find a variety of dried and smoked chili peppers east of DVP.
Ancho, pasilla, chipotle, serrano, poblano etc. to start.
I know I can get them in Kensington market, but I'm hoping there is a Spanish store in Scarboro or North York, easier to access.
Also, has anyone seen Rene's chili powder for sale. It's not on their website, and I got the last one in a dollar store. There is something remarkably good in that powder!

Canned chiles, tomatillos, and salsas are now in wide circulation--La Costena , Herdez, and San Marcus being the most common.
Dried chiles are the problem. They have a shelf life and don't take kindly to interminable storage. Dried out and brittle, they've lost a good part of their flavor even though the "hot" component can survive. Anchos, pasillas and big New Mexico types should be a bit pliable; if they're crisp and crumbly, pass. Dried chipoltes usually aren't worth the trouble if they're totally dessicated; canned will do.
No clue on Rene's.

You could try Rincón Latino at 1352 Kennedy Road.
Marketino is in North York, but west of where you want to shop. http://www.marketino.ca/
