Aside from Mona Lisa and Filippi's in Little Italy, anybody have a go-to spot to purchase bacalao for home cooking?

Whole Foods has it in a box (as mentioned), or occasionally "fresh", but it's $16 a pound either way. Pata Negra (in PB) occasionally has it, and I recall it being slightly lower in price (maybe $12 a pound?).

Is the stuff at Mona Lisa particularly bad? I've never used it, just curious.

Nothing wrong with it, just hate to pay the premium prices and hassle with getting down to India Street to get the occasional fix. Just looking for more options than those two.

Whole Foods carries the brand that is in the wooden box.
