Taste of Food as one ages???
I am beginning to wonder if the menu items that used to taste so good to me at certain restaurants and now just taste mediocre, did the item really change or did my taste buds just become more insensitive. Your thoughts??
I think about this all the time. Recently, I had the opportunity to take my husband to many of my old favorite spots. We don't live nearby, but had occasion to be in the area for several days. After all the hype, "You'll love it here!" - "They have the best X there!" he was expecting a great food excursion.
Of course, we came away poorer, and much disappointed. These places were packed, the reviews still good. So what changed? I'm guessing I did. The things I thought were so great, I can make at home way better. I think if you're a "food person", as you get older, your taste evolves. You like what you like until you know better, and then you like better.
