I'm looking for some suggestions for a place to eat in Studio City near CBS. We'll be eating around 3PM, and the meal must hold two teenage girls for the rest of the night. Italian (pizza is OK), French, or American would be fine. Thanks for the help. We don't live in the area.

Kung Pao Bistro is across the street from the studios, and they are open all afternoon, and serve very good Chinese food, if Chinese might be an option. Dupars is a local coffee shop serving very good breakfast and is located next to the McDonalds, both of which are also across the street from the Radford St. entrance and are open all day. Just west of the Dupars there is an Italian sandwich place called Fiorini Cafe that others say is very good, yet I have never tried it.

I believe Fiorini's is out of business. Every time I've driven by, lunch and dinner times, the gates are up inside. I think Danny Bonaduce was involved with the place when it was in business.

Yes, it is indeed shuttered. I spoke to Larry Lipson and he knew nothing about it closing. The phone is also disconnected.

This was OUR pizza place so we are sad. We felt a sense of ownership when we went there because we loved it so much. The sauce was so good and the staff was so friendly, especially the manager and co-owner Darren (danny b was a co-owner but not involved in the day to day like Darren, in fact in all the times we were there, we never even saw Danny). I guess we didn't go enough to keep it open!

It's nothing special, but there's a branch of the Daily Grill practically across the street from there (corner of Laurel Canyon & Ventura). They serve througout the day, and you can cetainly get the girls well-fed there.

The Out Take Bistro, which is about a block or so East of the CBS Studios on Ventura, is another possibility, although I'm not sure if they are open throughout the day. Out Take has a varied menu, some classic & some new, at reasonable prices (main courses run $15-$20, and one dollar for a small side salad).

11929 Ventura Blvd., Studio City; (818) 769-0822

The Daily Grill and DuPar's definitely serve throughout the day, though.

DuPar's is fairly standard coffee shop fare, but the pancakes are the best in the known universe (it's not even close), and the French toast is pretty fine, so if breakfast at 3 P.M. is your thing, you've got it made.

I think Jumpin Java fits the bill -- right next store to Radford Studios, has a big menu that's user friendly for teens & adults. Check out the link... a little hipper than Dupars (though I guess Dupars is hip in the retro sorta way).

There's also an Italian pizzeria sorta place in the mall that Trader Jo's & Dupars is located (don't recall name) --I used to go there in high school and the pizza was decent (but that was 15 years ago!).

If you want to walk, there's also Mexicalli for so-so Mexican and Art's Deli and CPK up the street and Chin-Chin, but like I said below is w/in walking distance and easy, esp that time of day. Oh, there's also a Panderia in the Sav-On mall (where Mexicalli also is located).

Don't forget Louise's...always well-prepared food and right next door there is also Gaucho Grill (Laurel Cyn and Ventura) La Loggia is wonderful, although a bit more expensive. For fun food, there is Killer Shrimp on the corner of Colfax and Ventura.
