Mother's Day Brunch at Lai Wah Heen

Has anyone seen the ad for the mother's day brunch? I think it's $72 per person for shark fin and abalone. Any comments?

As an aside, we tried the $900 banquet at Casa Imperiale. it was a great deal and great service. We got the shark fin (with the chinese ham and chicken broth - don't see it much on menus these days), abalone, 'pigeons', 5 lb lobster. It's been awhile since we treated ourselves to a fancy banquet and after a lot of research, we settled on Casa and everyone was really happy.

Have not seen the ad, but years ago we went to a Mother's Day Brunch Buffet at LWH which was a zoo. The lobster was served one small piece at a time by the chef. Most of the dishes were nothing to write home about.

I agree. Ive been there a few times and have no idea what all the fuss is about. Many CH'ers inluded LWH in their 'Top 10 of 2010', but I just don't get it. I mean, it's *good*, but no - I won't be composing any letters any time soon.

Stay away if it is $72 for shark fin/abalone buffet. One piece of abalone easily cost more than that.

Chinese ham and chicken broth Shark fin is a very common bowl of shark fin which can be found in many higher end Chinese restaurant all over the world including Toronto.

Tried it one mother's day a few years back. They hosted it in the banquet hall in the hotel. Lots of traffic and lots of lineup for the sharkfin and abalone. Overall was ok last time.

It's $72/person, plus tax and 16% tips this year.

Going back this year and we shall see how it goes...just hope people are more orderly here than the buffet I recently went in HK when I was there.

          how many people for $900?

as for the LWH buffet, it sounds similar to its new years day buffet, and that I found was just ok
