Hophap Thai on Smith St--any reviews?

  • 4

Just wondering about this new (?) Thai joint on Smith and Baltic. Has anyone been?

  1. We really like it-- it replaced Ghang Thai, which is now limited to its location on Court Street. Different owners, but similar menu and they kept it BYOB, which we love. I think they're better with the spices than Ghang-- ordering it "thai spicy" yielded decently spiced food, and their delivery is consistently fast. Also note you can order dishes with duck, although it's not listed as an option on the menu (just vegetarian duck is there). Pretty standard neighborhood thai food, but I think they do it better than the other options in the neighborhood...

Thanks! I used to like the chili basil noodles (pad kee mao) at Joya, but they've gone way downhill in the last few months. Hoping Hophap does them better!

the meal we had at HopHop was just horrendous. shortly after Ghang closed. some fried fish thing that had been prepared possibly days earlier. i dont think we'll go back.

I have to say HopHap went downhill since last reviewed and we don't go there anymore. They also got their liquor license, so that plus disappeared as well. Current go-to is Mee Thai on 5th Ave. Tasty and spicy.
