Braised Pig's Foot in K Town @ Jangchung-Dong Wong Jokbal

I have always liked the work that Linda Burum has (and Thi too!) done in sussing out new off the map finds in and around Los Angeles. Another one can be found here: http://www.latimes.com/features/food/...

Has anyone tried this place yet? Sounds incredibly interesting and delectable. Ah the pig, he gives so completely of himself to the Chowhounds! ;-D>

I had the mae-un jokbal bokkeum aka pan fried spicy pork hock for lunch today. It was delicious. Plenty moist, tender and unctuous. The banshan was also very good. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the first hand report , Bob. Two questions. How much was your lunch and did you already know about this place or did you go because of the LA Times/CH posting?

I only learned of it from the L.A. Times review. Couldn't wait to check it out after reading about it. The dish I had was a ridiculously low $6.99! This may be one of the best values around.

We went to this place around a year ago - extremely difficult to find because they had no English sign outside. Also, wait staff didn't really speak English, but we got help from fellow diners.

I love braised pig's food and it's one of the better version around. A generous plate that can feed more than 2 with soju was $24 for dinner.

For some reason I've never been enamored with jokbal. I've always felt that the Korean versions were never unctuous enough. I think the Chinese braised pork feet is more to my liking.
