KY Derby Reservations
I am coming to Louisville for Derby and have waited too late to get reservations at just about anyplace on Open Tables. Can any locals recommend a good place ( with good lively atmosphere) that we could walk into with 6 or 8? We will probably have drinks first near the track so we wouldn't be heading to dinner until 830 or so. Help!

Where are you going to have drinks near the track? There really isn't any place nice around there to do so. There are a lot of new places you could check out here in town... Harvest just opened downtown, haven't been but know the owners from a farmers Market, all the product will be sourced within 80 miles of Louisville, The Blind Pig in Butchertown, is as you might suspect, is a pork centric restaurant, Eiderdown is a place in Germantown that provides a German-American menu, The Holy Grale on Bardstown Rd is a beer centered place with excellent food, including fries served with 4 different sauces. That should get you started

Thanks. We lived in Louisville until our 1995 relocation to Nashville so we usually hit one of the dive bars down by the track for old times sake. Usually the Granville or another shot and a beer kind of place. I will check out the websites of the places you recommend. Since I understand post time for the derby is 630 this year we will definitely be looking for a late dinner
