Suggestions for Dinner Restaurant (Veg-Friendly)

Dough Girl Apr 23, 2011 04:44 PM

Looking for an upscale restaurant to take my family out for dinner that will satisfy 2 vegans, 1 vegetarian and 1 meat eater! Our current favourites include: Nazareth, Fressen, Rancho Relaxo, Amore and Tabule. Anywhere in the GTA or Toronto is fine. Suggestions?

Woodlot may fit the bill - I'd call ahead to make sure about vegan though. The food is a-okay, but the atmosphere is the real draw in my opinion.
I believe I remember hearing that George is quite accommodating - but I have never been!

Maybe Frida at Eglinton and Bathurst. Chic-ey upscale mexican. It might be tricky for vegan options, but there are tons of things that cheese could simply be opted out of.
Enoteca Sociale might also be a safe bet, I haven't had great meals there, but the menu is diverse enough that everyone could find something they're happy with.
If you're interested in something exotic maybe Cava would work, they make great charcuterie for the meat eater, but they also have tons of veggie and vegan tapas options. It would be a crime to go there vegan though, cause their desserts are SO good! I'd put my money on them for best in the city.

Second both Woodlot and George. With either location I would budget $75 to $100 pp with wine.

George - $75-100 with wine????? Not in this lifetime. I'd up that by at least half.

The price point is much lower for the vegan/veggie items and I'm talking about a bottle of wine for the table not a bottle each.

I go there at least once every other month for dinner and unless we are doing a tasting - which we normally don't my bill for two before tip is $200.

I'd look into L.A.B. or Woodlot.
Oh, and I love love love Vegetarian Haven.

Check out the Atlantic on Dundas west. They tend to have a lot of veggie-friendly dishes.

I like Atlantic too. But many of their dishes feature fish, so more strictly, it's for non-meat eaters.
Given Vegan, I think L.A.B. is the best bet - and it has some meat dishes too for those who want a choice.

I also strongly recommend the beet cheesecake at L.A.B.
