Doce minho's bread is great but the cashier's sour attitude makes me go elsewhere for my portuguese breads and desserts!

I am a big fan of the Brazilian Bakery on the N side of Dundas just around Brockton. Large place with sitting area, frozen counter and a huge selections of pastries, breads and the like. The counter ladies are extremely nice - and patient with mispronunciations! The meat patties (croquettes), the natas, the pan de quejo - all outstanding. Some of the pastries are heavy, all are sweet, many are toothsome.

I realize it's too late for the original poster, but here goes. I love the small buns at National Bakery on College. They are incredibly light, airy and crusty...cheap, too.
For Portuguese cornbread, Nova Era does an awesome one. Also their shrimp and codfish appetizers (forget the name in Portuguese) are among the best.
