Orange / anise flavored cocktail?

After realizing how much I like oranges and fennel together, I'm on the hunt for those flavors in liquid form. I already have a bottle of Pernod at my disposal, but am out of Cointreau and am amenable to trying other orange ingredients. What recipes do you recommend?

Try Aperol, an easy introduction to the world of Italian bitter liqueurs call amari (or amaro for singular). My favorite orange/anise cocktail is the fabulous 2 to 2 by Stephen Cole of The Violet Hour.
    2 to 2
    1 1/2 oz Aperol
    1 oz Absinthe
    1 oz Lemon juice
    1/4 oz Simple syrup
    1 ds Orange bitters
1 twst Orange peel (flamed, as garnish)
Shake, strain, straight up, cocktail glass, garnish

To substitute Pernod for absinthe, omit the simple syrup.

You could also try the Monkey Gland, but it's not a super interesting cocktail.
