Back-up for Franny's on a Saturday night?

Hi everybody,

I'm a part of a party of 4 tonight (Saturday!), including one 10-year old, that are planning on going to Franny's for dinner around 7:30. I understand the wait can be pretty long, so we were just wondering what would be some good back-up places to go, that could (a) accommodate us, and (b) be good for a 10 year old?

to clarify, you mean to change plans now, or see what the wait will be after you get there and then go somewhere else? I have a feeling a wait for 4 at 7:30 would be pretty substantial tonight. could you go around 6?

Though if there are any suggestions to change plans now, it couldn't hurt to hear them.

Amorina on Vanderbilt has quite good creative individual pizzas, salads and some nice pasta dishes - also a laid back atmosphere and a better price point than Frannys. Cubana Cafe at St. Marks and 6th Ave would also work for a group including kids, as would Kaz an Nou on 6th between Bergen and Dean K a N is byo still. None of these are as ambitious or scene-y as Franny's however.
