    1. They're both very good and very different than the other. BTW, does anyone know why Red Light was closed for lunch last Thursday? They're website still says lunch & dinner.

very unreliable for lunch. you should call ahead and talk to a person before going.

The website is down, the phone is disconnected and they are off Open Table. Anyone know if they are gone?

I had the same experience a few weeks ago but they were still open for dinner anyway.

Like frod said, don't think they are gone. His last tweet was april 29th. Pretty recent. I would never go for lunch if you cant call them.

I know he had some phone issues and changed the # but can't remember where the new # was posted. Worse comes to worse you can call the hotel (Hotel Blu I think it's called) and they can probably patch you thorugh or give you the #.

Close. Motel Blu. Believe it or not the motel doesn't answer their phone. I'm planning to drive down from Broward for dinner Friday night and meeting friends driving up from the Grove. They won't be happy if the resturant is closed.

If Red Light isn't open, you can always go to Anise Taverna right on the other side of Biscayne Boulevard, or drive about 20 blocks south down to The Federal.

Or Blue Collar or Michy's (costs a lot more) -- both about 10 blocks away.

If you don't mind traveling a little further south of the Federal:
                      Buena Vista Bistro
                      Sakaya Kitchen
                      Sustain
                      Sugarcane

Thanks Frodnesor & Tpigeon. All good suggestions most of which I've been to multiple times and enjoy. You left out my favorite though, Michael's Genuine. Really did not want to go even as far south as 77th St except that I had heard such good things about RL and had never tried it. If i can't get a confirmation that they are open, I'll probably drop back to our usual half way meeting point, Lola's in Hollywood.

Phone's down, restaurant's up. Check Chef Wessel's twitter feed @1chef1river, as of Thursday night the message is "alive and kicking! phone down just for the night, serving alligator ribs, mahi & mulberry cobbler all weekend."

                1. re: Frodnesor

Decided to drive down and try Anise Taverna. Made a res. on Open Table. thanks for the recommendation Frodnesor. After a long week I'm just too lazy on a Friday night to hassle especially when meeting people. Always heard great things about the food at RL and not so great stories about the front of the house. Seems to be true. Will give Red Light a try another time when we are not meeting anyone else.
