Mark from The Red Cafe in PS--Found!

Fans of the late great Red Cafe in Park Slope, can find more of chef Mark's great cooking at his recently opened Dubuque on Court Street. It's mostly burgers--but not any burger. This is a great burger: richly flavored, not too big, juicy. The room is serene and comfortable with excellent, not expensive, wine and beer choices. Friendly service too. Go!

    We loved the Red Cafe. It was a place to go when you just wanted to have a really good meal with no fuss, no crowds, and comforting food. My husband loved the liver and onions at the Red Cafe does he have this on the menu? We have often wondered where he went. Thanks for the tip!

      Looks like you're out of luck re: the liver. Of course you could go have a burger and chat up Mr. Mark about liver. Nothing a business owner likes more than feedback & market research.

      Sounds like I'll be paying them a burger visit soon.

        No liver and onions, but, if you ask Mark, he might consider offering it as a special. I loved the Red Cafe too. I'm so glad to have stumbled on the chef again, and see that he's back dishing out great food.

        Thank you for posting this! My husband and I were big fans of the Red Cafe, and miss it. We had been thinking of trying Dubuque, but your post was the catalyst we needed to get there. Went tonight, and thought it was terrific. Lovely to see Mark, who was warm as always, and we enjoyed the food and atmosphere (although I really miss the liver and risotto dish, and there was nothing like it on the menu). We shared a salad, a pesto burger and a lamb burger. Both burgers were good, but our preference was for the beef/pesto.

        All in all, a great addition to the neighborhood, and lovely to know that Mark is cooking again.
