Best Menu Options at Bellanico in Oakland?

I'm heading to Bellanico this weekend and have read somewhat mixed reviews on the place. I ate there back when it opened and vaguely remember liking the pasta dish I ordered, but that a few of the items at our table were rather heavy and not exactly a hit. I specifically remember a couple of the appetizers coming with what looked like a mayo based sauce, when the menu indicated that the dish would be more on the lighter side. Any thoughts on what to order? I now live in the neighborhood and would love to order correctly so I have a better experience this time!

I haven't be to Bellanico for about a year or so. I can't anything I had on my visits that I didn't think was very good to excellent.

Right now, I see one of the cicchetti that has a mayo-based sauce and one antipasto that has a creamy sauce.

In thinking about previous meals, I don't believe I've ever ordered from the "Secondi" section of the menu, where the bulk of the heavier dishes are listed.

My recommendation would be to consider a vegetable-centered pasta and/or to ask your server for his/her opinion for suggestions based on your preferences.

Very underwhelmed by Bellanico and the owners lack of making any attempt to rectify a take out order I had brought home that the kitchen had made errors on two dishes(omitting major ingredients).Dining at the restaurant I've found attempts at good recipes, however that lacked flavor and tastiness.

I didn't like it much the first time but we ordered the mains. I like their pastas a great deal. We usually get the fried cauliflower, salad, and share a pasta. I also really like their brunch.

Malfatti are delicious! The farro salad is also very good. They do a nice job with fish, and the fried green olives are a good way to start.
