Looking for ramps

They had them at the downtown market today, as well as Farside Farms' stand on Merrimon.

Also their store in Oteen should have them, too. As well as the produce stand across the street and a bit north of the Farside Farms store on Merrimon. I forget the name of it.. maybe Ledford's?

Ledford's has changed ownership...it's now called TJ's Mountain Market or something like that. We popped in there yesterday and they hardly had anything on the shelves. I know it is early in the season so hopefully they get stocked up soon, but as of yesterday they barely had any supply.

Too bad about Ledford's. Hopefully their selection will improve as the season progresses. It was one of the few places I could get June apples on a consistent basis.

Saw the article and found the ramps by accident. The Amish store in Hendersonville by the MM meat market had some. Now what to do about the environmental impact? I'm going to try them once, then leave them be. They are quite pungent.

There's an Amish store in Hendersonville? Do they have morels by chance? When I lived in PA, the Amish had their secret picking spots but I never found them.

I didn't notice any but I wasn't looking for them. They had butter. Lots of butter.

Story in yesterday's NYT about ramps getting harvested too fast, and becoming a threatened species in some areas.
