Next Friday we're driving into Austin from Houston. My mom and her best friend want to do the Austin food truck thing and general Austin fun food locations.

How does this sound?

Friday lunch - Flip Happy Crepes
Friday happy hour - Hula Hut
Friday Dinner - Franklin BBQ (can I expect to even get in here for dinner? I've never been! What's the story?)

Saturday breakfast - Kerbey Lane
Saturday lunch - Mmpanadas
Saturday on the way home we'll stop at Bucees in Giddings for drink refills and the Bucees experience then Royers of Round Top for dinner and pie.

franklin is open til they run out, which is early (like 11 or noon or something), so you're not going to be able to pull of Friday dinner there. i suspect ppl will recommend you replace Saturday breakfast at Kerbey Lane w/ brisket breakfast at Franklin - but i've personally never been. Do Friday dinner at Odd Duck trailer - just get there before 6 and after ordering, walk across the street to the gas station for wine or beer or whatever to drink.

Flip Happy Crepes is pretty underwhelming. If you want to get Franklin, maybe switch Friday lunch to Kerbey or Magnolia, and Sat. Lunch to Franklin. Friday Dinner at Odd Duck is a great call.
Get to Hula Hut at 4ish.

Since you're already going to be in Giddings on the way out, you might also consider Weikels Bakery in La Grange. Best kolache's in the state, and I'm loving the pickles I got there. I also bought some Wendish noodles that I'm slowly making my way through - an excellent lunch.

Absolutely positive that Franklin BBQ is a no-go for dinner. They run out quick, 1pm or so. Even when they finish their new brick pits I'm unsure they'll be available for dinner. And if you do decide to swap them for one of your lunch options, Friday would be preferable to Saturday as the weekday lines are a little better.
My most recent visit was a Saturday the 23rd and arrived about 10:40, 'bout a half block back in the line, and made our way up and were eating by noon if that give you an idea of how early you should arrive or how long to wait.

Just to warn you, the Bucees in Giddings isn't nearly as big as the one off I-10 near San Antonio. It is still worth stopping at because the bathrooms are super clean.

If you can't make it to Franklin, consider stopping in Elgin on the way out at Southside Market for some good sausage.
