Celeb/Top Chef Near the Waldorf?

Hi all,
I'll be staying at the Waldorf next week and am looking for recommendations for restaurants around $50-$75/person featuring celebrity chefs or Top Chef contestants. I'd be willing to cab it for a good meal too. Thanks for any tips!

    Most of these are probably higher than your price range (if you include drinks) but if you want top chef sometimes you have to pay top price. Kin Shop is probably most affordable in my list. That being said...

    Annisa -- Anita Lo (top chef masters) -- W. Village
    Marc Forgione -- chef of same name -- Iron Chef, newest edition -- in Tribeca -- LOVE
    Sam Talbot has a new gig at a hotel restaurant in Soho -- haven't been http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/10/fas...
    Obviously Tom Colicchio and all his restaurants -- varying price points
    Red Rooster -- Marcus Samuelsson -- this is in Harlem -- out of the way but pretty good

      Angelo Sosa's Social Eatz is fairly close (walkable from your hotel) at 53rd St between 2nd and 3rd ave. Decent, Asian fusion bar snacks, burgers, tacos, etc and definitely will fit your price range.

      Both of Harold Deiterlie's restaurants, Perilla and Kin Shop are awesome, and worth the journey down to the West Village.

        marea on CPW. or just go to kin shop in the village - harold dieterle. last time i was there i ran into my friend who was on "next iron chef america" and saw mark ladner from del posto eating next to me & my date.

            Marea costs a lot more than $50-$75 per person.

              lunch, two courses, is 42$. additional savory courses are 21$ each. that is doable, providing no boozing.

              red rooster is terrible. don't even bother.
