Monterey farms artichoke hearts- FTW!!!
I just wanted to come on here and say that I'm insanely impressed with Monterey farms artichokes.
I am not affiliated with them in any way, I just went into the fresh market a couple of weeks ago looking for artichokes. They are such a pain to clean and grill and I found their packs in the produce section and figured I'd give them a try.
The flavor is really good for pre-cooked artichoke hearts. I made a risotto with duck confit, the artichoke hearts and roasted beets on top.
Well, they are a small company and I had forgotten the name, so I tracked down their contact information and gave them a call to find out how I could get their products online. Jane, the owner, said she was in the final stages of setting up payment on their website and it should be ready by the end of the month this month.
I was hoping to get some for easter to go with some grilled leg of lamb, but no luck. She then said she would overnight some to me.
Not only was this unexpected, but her customer service was AMAZING!!!
I will be cooking leg of lamb on the grill stuffed with garlic, herbs, cheese and preserved lemon.
For sides, I am going to do artichoke hearts, roasted corn, grape tomatoes, and herbs tossed in a vinaigrette.
She has made my week!

Do either of you know what the shipping cost is? I know it might depend on distance, but I couldn't find out anything on the Monterey Farms site. I went to the Whole Foods site, which is supposed to be a local retailer, but I couldn't find that even a California store (San Jose) carries this product.
DopplerDeb I have a Wegmans, but I'm not finding this product listed on the store inventory. What state are you in? Did customer service say it was okay to freeze the packs?
Thanks, all, for any info you can share!
Wow, these look terrific. I want to order a case, but don't have enough freezer space for that.
Anyone know what they are going for at retail? If you divide the case price $50.40 by the 14 pack per, it's less than $4 for 6 oz. of artichoke hearts; better than I can do making my own!
I hope they aren't like, $7 at retail...
I completely agree!!! This product is absolutely AMAZING!!! Our local store (Wegmans) had a promotion on them just after Christmas and I tried the grilled and the natural. I eat the grilled right out of the bag they are so good! Jarred artichokes always taste slimy and mushy to me. These are plump and firm and jam packed full of flavor. I completely agree with the customer service as well. I had a question about whether or not I could freeze the artichokes and Jane, the owner, was so kind and very helpful. I wish great things for this company and many more years of dining on these amazing artichokes! : )
