Bobalicious - Newton

Tried to stop for Bahn Mi on Wednesday night on my way to pick up the family at Logan. Was closed, brown paper on the glass. Anyone know if it is renovating, closed or if I just got there too late? I really liked their bahn mi, and I am occasionally in the neighborhood.

  1. My understanding is that they are closed..... sad! Their website is still up, but their phone has been disconnected.

    1. They closed for good quite some time ago. Too bad.

I guess I should pay more attention to the opening/closing threads. Can anyone recommend a good bahn mi place in the near suburbs? I'm based in Belmont. Striperguy?

Yah, the closest is Pho Viet in the former Super88 in Allston. Or you can head to Lowell (I am only 1/2 kidding as there are some awesome ones there.)

Thanks. BTW are you available for the coffee challenge in 2 weeks?

I've got a newborn at home so keeping pretty close to the home front these days.

During my last two visits, the man behind the counter had to call the sandwich maker, who would run out of the nail salon across the street (where she was presumably working, not getting her nails done) to make them.

that's weird! The only 2 times I was there was a couple of years ago. Two nice women working and making everything.

Yeah, I think they are mother/daughter. The mother was the one who came over from the nail salon.

I may be wrong, but my understanding was that the original owners -- the two nice women from a couple years ago -- sold the business a few months ago when it (temporarily) closed the first time.

Those were sisters, the original owners. They left a year or so ago, and it was never as good afterward. Sad. I wish they had succeeded.
