Midtown for groups - an impossibl chowhound challenge??? Save me from TGIF

I've searched the boards, yelp, etc for a place and it is possible it doesn't exist. Here are the parameters:

I'm with a group that has a meeting near 55th and 5th and wants to be able to walk to dinner - so a 10 block radius is what I've got.
There will be about 15 people.
I want to force them to go somewhere other than, say, Rosa Mexicana because that is their default.
Price range can be $, $$ but I won't be able to swing Felidia.
They aren't the most adventurous eaters so, for instance, while I'd love to take advantage of some of the amazing Japanese in the area I'll probably be vetoed.

Any suggestions?

  1. How about Toloache? It's Mexican so you can probably get them to agree, and for you it's creative and pretty good. I'd suggest you make a reservation for such a large group (actually you should do that for wherever you decide to go)
