Bacon Cupcakes

Ok, I know this might sound crazy, but I was watching a food show where the topic was bacon - and all the crazy ways you could consume it.

One of the more interesting ones was "bacon cupcakes." In its most basic form, these appear to be regular cupcakes with frosting and a sprinkle of bacon bits on them. Anyone know of a place in Manhattan or Brooklyn that might sell these concoctions.

Cupcake Stop occasionally had French toast with bacon cupcakes. Not sure if they still make them since they've re-opened. They were pretty good with Maple frosting and bacon bits in the actual cupcake.

In fact kumquat's bacon donuts taste like eating a pancake with maple syrup and bacon- a combination I like very much

Not a cupcake, but RUB serves bacon chocolate chip cookies. I bought them to a few Seders this year (the tongue-in-cheek kind, not the serious kind). They're good, but a whole cookie is a bit much.

Went with Butch Bakery. Met David Arrick, the founder and owner, when I picked up the "Driller" cupcakes. He's a great guy and the cupcakes were delicious.

While this is neither a cupcake or in Manhattan, Traif in Williamsburg has fabulous bacon donuts (in addition to wonderful food generally). So once you have gotten your bacon cupcake fix wander over to Traif for the next step up - the bacon donut!

I read that the Cupcake Crew truck has "Graceland" cupcakes: Banana cake, peanut butter frosting, bacon garnish.

I know they're out in Brooklyn only on the weekends at the Brooklyn Flea but Kumquat Cupcakery makes a good Maple Bacon cupcake.

Butter Lane in the East Village makes an Elvis cupcake that's quite delicious. It's a banana cake base with peanut butter frosting and topped with maple (or brown sugar?) glazed bacon bits. Very tasty.

I haven't tried this but check out The Driller, maple cake topped with crumbled bacon and milk-chocolate ganache, from Butch Bakery ("where butch meets buttercream" lol....)

Robicelli's has a bacon cupcake. Contact them to ask which retail stores carry that flavor and when.
