Another Chinatown Steamed Bun Question

A friend of mine recently gave me a very large steamed bun he bought in Chinatown and the bun was filled with everything but the kitchen sink (chicken, egg, Chinese sausage, roast pork, etc). Do you know what these are and who makes the best ones?

  1. Usually just called "big bun" (dai bao) and they often have them during breakfast/lunchtime at Great Taste

    1. luther is right. and i've been told you can only get them in the restaurant side(Left side) of the place, not the bakery side.

        I've seen them in a steamer along the back wall of the bakery but never tried to order one there.

          You get the big buns on the bakery side of Great Taste. They're in a steam cabinet above the counter. They run out of them around the dinner hour. But they still generally have cold ones you can take home and re-steam to reheat yourself.

          It's the smaller steamed pork bao you can only get on the restaurant side, and only before 4 PM.

            I really like the dai bao at Great Taste. Excellent value at $1.75 and enough for a small meal.

              Yah there's are good, so are Mei Sum's and Crown Royal.
