I'm heading to pismo tomorrow, Thank for all your advice. Much appreciated!
You don't want to be on the LA Board, you want to be on the California Board.
I haven't been in a while but two places come to mind:
The Cracked Crab is a dedicated seafood eatery - never tried the clam chowder but I'm hoping the California board can chime in.
Splash Cafe has the bread bowl-style. It's really rich so be warned.
God, it's been so long but as a child I loved the chowder in the toasted bread bowls at Splash. I haven't a clue if it's the same now, but I agree with bulavinaka, it was quite rich.
It would really hit the spot for us after driving up from LA.
We are locking this thread, it is out of scope for this board and foodiecurious has also posted the same query on the California board, which is the appropriate board.
