Suggestions for Mystic or Surrounding Area

Hi, my friends and I will be in the Mystic Area for a wedding. We will be staying in Stonington - we will have at least two lunches and probably two dinners out.

My husband is pretty picky - mostly italian, chicken etc - no fish but will go to a fish restaurant if there are options for him. We have a soft spot for Mystic Pizza because we have been getting the chicken parm dinner there since college. I suggested that we do not go there and try other places b/c we may have outgrown it - he was shocked at first but then agreed to try something new.

Any great places by the water? Lunch spots not to be missed? Desserts?

Any suggestions will be much appreciated!

  1. Noah's in Stonington borough is quite good. They have a lot of fish on their menu but there are always other options that should satisfy your husband. Olio in Groton and Tony D's in New London offer great Italian options.

    1. Skippers Dock has okay food but it is so pretty to sit outside there. It is right on the water behind The Inn at Stonington. Dog watch in Stonington is pretty good, on a marina ,casual, you can have drinks outside. Water Street Cafe in Stonington has great food. Noah's is great, alot of seafood. In Mystic we like Azu and Daniel Packer Inn. At S&P oyster house (we felt the food wasjust okay ) they have a GREAT bread pudding. As for Italian, people do like Tony D's. In the summer there is also Maria's in Misquamicut. Have a nice time! Stonington is very pretty!

      1. My very favorite restaurant in the region is Pita Spot in Mystic (a block from the Inn at Mystic on rt. 1.) It's Lebanese and is open for 3 meals a day. Among their specialties are grilled chicken dishes. If your husband doesn't want a highly spiced dish, they're very accommodating. Oh, and the place is incredibly friendly, and inexpensive. Their menu is online as are dozens of rave reviews on Trip Advisor and other review sites.
