San Marzano canned tomatoes in uk???

psycho_fluff Apr 18, 2011 09:36 AM

I have had little luck sourcing them on the net & am not going to Harrods for them! I am in Welling Kent so unless someone knows of somewhere local to there that does them, internet would be great. Thanks. xx

Hi! La Fromagerie in Marylebone have fresh San Marzano tomatoes, we bought some today!

Don't know about the UK, but in the US, there are many "domestically grown" cans of San Marzanos, so they're not REALLY authentic. Just beware--I spent an amount of money for what should have been authentic ones on plain-old-US-grown.

Sainsbury's sell them as part of their Taste the Difference range.

An Italian deli in hampstead (NW London, so not v near Kent I realise) has cans for £1.90, which i suspect might be cheaper than luigis.

(the website's quite clunky, but it mentions them in the deli section under tomato products)

Lina Stores in Soho... a mecca for Italian produce. I think they might have started a delivery service too.
