California Burritos in LA?

kaochow Apr 17, 2011 06:37 PM

Does anyone know of a place that has San Diego style California Burritos?
The one complete with carne asada, rice, beans, salsa, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, and FRENCH FRIES?
I know, I know, not the classiest thing one could ask for, but it's the best after a long surf sesh.
Nothing fancy, just a place with good mexican food.

Please help!

Burrito King has a large and decadent CA Burrito, I prefer the slightly tastier and smaller one down the street at Tarascos.

Yeah just hand one yesterday with lengua. Delicious! They also have a few locations else where. There's one on Hyperion near Rowena. Look for the yellow sign and cute trotting donkey.

There is an Alberto's in Van Nuys now. They have both the California Burritos with the fries as well as the legit carne asada fries that are popular in SD. They're located off Vanowen just east of the 405.

          Thanks, that's great to know!

I'm not a fan of the CA burrito, but I REALLY miss SD style carne asada burritos.

The California burritos at Albertos just have meat and french fries, though you can add other ingredients.

I think they might have that also at Baja Sonora, corner of Clark and Spring in Long Beach.

It's been on their Specials board recently. It seemed very weird to me, but it would make sense that a San Diego specialty could have migrated north to our neck of the woods...!

Well LA style California burritos are the kind they sell at LA Salsa--black beans, avocado, rice, jack and cheddar cheeses, fresh lettuce and salsa, wrapped up in a flour tortilla.

So ours are healthier and classier--it helped make La Salsa in the day, way before Baja Fresh and Rubios, and Chipotle ever came around.

It's not on the Taco Pronto menu on the website. Since you asked about Tito's, they don't have a California burrito on the menu. I don't know what CCDiner is talking about because they don't have it on their menu--but I know for a fact they can do it for you, I just asked for you. They are better than Tito's in my opinion.

California burritos are definitely not healthy for ya :) Thanks for checking with Titos, you're awesome!

They sell CA burritos at Cinco De Mayo on Washington Pl and Sepulveda. Next door to Tito's Tacos. I usually go there when I don't feel like waiting in line at Tito's
